History of Infor XA/MAPICS

Infor XA is a commercial ERP software that’s mainly used by manufacturing companies to control operations. Developed by IBM back in 1977 it started off life as MAPICS (Manufacturing, Accounting and Production Information Control Systems). All MAPICS code ran only on IBM systems such as IBM 34; 36; 38, and AS/400. IBM sold MAPICS to Marcam in 1993, who split into two companies and in 1997 ‘MAPICS Incorporated’ was formed.

MAPICS Inc. grew over the next few years until they were acquired by Infor in 2005. MAPICS was renamed to ‘Infor ERP XA’ and now is known simply as ‘Infor XA’. Today, Infor XA still requires the IBM i operating system to run and according to the Infor website it’s used in over fifty countries around the world in: “A wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment, high tech, general metal and plastic fabrication, and defense”. Cashbook have a twenty-year history of working with this long-standing ERP system.

History of Cashbook and Infor XA/MAPICS

This year, Cashbook celebrates twenty years of integrating our cash automation software solutions with Infor XA/MAPICS. Our first customer running MAPICS was signed way back in 2001, it was a company called Pall Corporation based out of Maryland, USA. Pall provide filtration, separation and purification solutions to customers in many industries around the globe. Subsequent to signing our first customer Pall Corporation on XA/MAPICS. Cashbook went on to have many more clients over the years.

Subsequent Infor XA Customers

Allied Minerals – a company based out of Ohio who are a global manufacturer of monolithic and precast refractory ceramics. Deublin – an automotive company based out of Chicago who specialise in rotating unions which are used in equipment such as air clutches, gearboxes, machine tool spindles, and rubber and plastic manufacturing machinery. Mutoh – who are based in Belgium and are renowned for their production of high-quality wide format inkjet printers that retail on the EMEA market. MTD – who are also based in Ohio and are a leader in manufacturing a wide range of lawn and garden power equipment for both the residential and commercial markets.

Franklin Sports – an American sports manufacturing company who make many sports products and are synonymous with the world of baseball due to their famous baseball glove. Barry Wehmiller – a large corporation headquartered in St. Louis who manufactures and supplies packaging, corrugating, paper converting, filling, and labelling automation equipment for a broad range of industries. Milwaukee Forge – are over 100 years old and operate out of Milwaukee, experts in manufacturing and providing high-quality steel forgings to customers.

Most recent Customer on Infor XA

Twenty years later in 2021, Cashbook have been working with Dorel Home Furnishings on automating their Collections and Deductions management. Dorel are our newest Infor XA customer, they are based out of Missouri and are a leading provider of a wide range of home furnishings with their technology driven, omni-channel platform.

They are just a few of our Infor XA customers and are very varied when it comes to business and industry. Cashbook are not an out of the box solution and are very flexible with industry specific financial practices and key processes within Cash Application, Bank Reconciliation, Accounts Payable, and Collections and Deductions Management.

Cashbook hire Jim Payne as System i Vice President Americas

In July of 2021, Cashbook announced that Jim Payne was joining the company as System i Vice President Americas. Jim has huge experience with Infor XA and has led multiple client projects to install, integrate and upgrade their ERP applications in multiple industries. Jim’s vast industry & XA experience will contribute greatly to Cashbook’s growth with Infor XA clients.

Jim Payne will be tasked with helping lead implementations and business development of Cashbook across North America. He started his new role with Cashbook on August 1st, 2021 and is based out of Chicago, Illinois.  Jim is looking forward to implementing Cashbook in many different ERP systems  and adding new XA customers.
